Ps3 cross game voice chat update

Shame the has no games any more to make use of it. Thanks for the welcoming! Now all you guys need is more than one good game a year then you might be caught up! Instead of bringing out all these apps, how about bringing Live owners something YOU created, Microsoft. Like an Internet Browser? Facebook, Twitter. All of that was accessible from day one. PS: A Reliable Console - had that since day one. Welcome to the current generation. I'm sure if they did it would be alot better than the ps3's too IMO the ps3 browser sucks bawlz but does get the job done to an extent.

Come on MS no one uses your browsers on pc's anymore so let us use them on our consoles. Then I can't wait for it. Probably used it 3 times on my I normally use a cell phone and call my friends. Hey look on the bright side, you could always use your Xbox to see what we are doing in Uncharted 2 using twitter. Since day 1 I had : - A reliable console - A next-gen console which has the best games Uncharted 2 on the lead - A console which wasnt outdated when it came out - PSN which is improving all the time, next firmware updates are just going to get better.

Now all it needs is an OK player base - Apposed to the chumps who spend their time on N4G instead of their consoles. Chump nerds Now that it has been confirmed from a reliable source when is it going to be released? I had initially read that Sony did not plan on releasing any major firmware updates for the reminder of the year. It might be a big update for you but it might not be a big update for Sony.

I know it is the most requested feature by fans but as we have seen it is way down the list for them. Can anyone confirm this guy really is a Naughty Dev? I am not saying he isn't, but how do we know he is?

Again I'm just trying to get the facts before I start spreading the rumor further. You can tell by his little badge. Developers and other "special people" get an icon and a title to their PlayStation. Thank you, I don't visit that site so I had no idea how to even verify, appreciate it. Fantastic news from a fantastic dev team. Loving Uncharted 2, and will love chatting to other people while I'm playing it SP! Whatever, it's not like we all didn't know it was coming anyway.

Cross game chat would be nice, I guess. It's one of those features people like to drone on and on about, but I just don't see it being used much. It also concerns me with regards to a game like Demon's Souls, where such a feature would undermine the developer's intentions. And, of course, there's the aforementioned issue of people giving away teammate positions in FPS games.

Developers should have the option to block XMB chat between players on opposite teams in a given match. If you don't see it being used much, you've probably never used it on Live. It's an invaluable feature man and one that's sorely missed when one moves between systems constantly. It's a social thing, one that Sony definitely needs as Home isn't cutting it. PS3 kotaku. Alernative sources 10 PS3 to get cross game chat, according to Naughty Dog rep post neocrisis.

The story is too old to be commented. Mucudadada d ago I hope Sony gives the guy a break since he worked on one of the most amazing games I've ever played. Agree 69 Disagree 2. Tinted Eyes d ago Edited d ago Really? It's a nifty feature, I suppose, for those who use it. But it's not something I look for in a gaming product. Are you aware that you can mute anyone that may annoy you on the Not sure about the PS3. But the mute feature is one feature I've taken advantage of a few times now, it's nice.

Than just mute people. The X has a feature that lets you only chat with people in your friend list. So If you're in a room that's full and only 2 people are on your friend list, You can only speak and hear from those 2 only. Now that's way kool. The people that complain about these annoying kids probaly don't even have or use a X If so , you should already know about these features.

There are multiple options you have for not having to hear people you don't want to on xbox. It is so easy to mute players. I prefer not having them in my game space at all. I play with my friends, not random no-name poofs. It's pretty much that simple. Blocking their voice is simply a band-aid, and typically also overlooks the fact that they either suck at a game, or suck at team work. In addition, all of the games I play multiplayer excluding fighting games , I play on PC, so do all my friends, therefore, they'd have to shell out money for I'm not really prepared to have the conversation with them, nor would I turn my back on my PC Oddly enough, every one of my friends who own consoles, also own gaming PC's.

The majority of their console time is spent on single-player campaign, and if we ever have the desire to play multiplayer, we simply buy the PC version.

The framework for multiplayer simply isn't enough on consoles, though, I've been spoiled by having access, or owning a PC for as long as I can remember. Jagosix: No, I shouldn't know about these features, because they're beneath me. I don't own a , nor will I ever. It'd be an insult to my PC to have one in my possession, a pathetic piece of hardware, that Microsoft sold to sheeple that were easily convinced the machine was not only necessary, but a valid entry into the electronics market.

It's cool though, kids need their toys. Dude "features beneath you". So the same features that are on a PC are ok, but when it's on a console it's beneath you. Talk about fanboyism you sir seem to love your PC. The main difference between a gaming PC and Console is ease of use and cost. Now on to ease of use. I can turn on a console, insert the disc without installation setup and configuration , and instantly play my game. Try doing that with any pc.

My kids have a pc they play games on, however they prefer the simplicity of a console. Try this if only if you have small kids. Go get Lego Batman for PC and the console. Now have them play the game on their own. Just hand them the disc and let them do it.

I'll guarantee the console will be up and running way before the PC. Location in the house is another important thing. The console is designed to fit in small spaces and take some form of damage. No PC comes with that ability at a cost and size that matches the console. Consoles are just more versatile in that respect. Don't get me wrong I love the PC for what it offers. It's just not there yet when it comes to the true plug n play concept.

Gaming consoles have been there for a very long time. Turn it on Insert game and play. I never really saw the need for cross-game chat.

Like when I play MMORPGs on my PC, everyone is on Ventrilo, we start raiding, we're all talking to one another, and then there's always that 1 attention-whore guy or girl in the guild that just has to come into the same Ventrilo channel as the rest of us. It's the same thing with console games. If I'm playing Red Dead Redemption or something with friends, and then another random friend asks to join into Voice Chat with them I'm actually glad they can't interupt my game! If Sony implements cross-game chat on the Vita, now I have no choice to accept their voice chat invitation and come bother me while I'm playing an online game with other people!

Or even worst, what if Sony makes it so we're forced to use a Global Channel? Imagine you join a CoD game, but everyone is like: "Hey guys, come in the global channel" and now I'm stuck chatting with tons of people who aren't even playing CoD with me?

If I'm playing a game and chatting with other people about the same game we're all in, I don't need some outside party joining in too talking about a different game they are playing at the same time! I really don't think the game will absolutely FORCE you to listen to people that invite every time you play online. I don't understand why people keep whining about this.

It is the most useless feature of any console, there is not one time I would use it, even if PS3 had it. It seems like the only people that would use it are the little kids that spend 4 hours a day in CoD, but still, there is no advantage over the scores of other ways we can communicate. As soon as I sign in on xbox I get 3 or 4 party invites and I'm pretty much in a 5 on average person Party chat at all times.

And still I'm often in a full party, and a lot of the times all 8 people are in their own games it's amazing really.. Just having a great conversation as you game it's fantastic and the main reason I never played PS3 back when it still turned on, I would rather be talking with people instead of just sitting there alone though I still like a nice quiet single player session from time to time.

But I have a lot of friends, so that's probably why I appreciate chatting more. It's entirely over-rated. Most of the people who play online with me are usually in the same game Same goes with a majority of gamers, I would assume.

Meanwhile, they have a login to every social media site so they make it look like a larger issue than it actually is. Cross Game Chat is very overrated. Personally, I see next to no merit for the feature. I play games to get the experience and the imersion, but in the same way that people talking durring a movie in the theater ruins the experince, having a party chat open kills game imersion.

Take F. Going through the game would completely loose all tension if I was listening to a few friends talk about the Call of Duty match they were in or the day they were having. For another example, what about a team game like Battlefield? Part of the whole experience and fun in the game is in working with as a team to complete objectives together.

By talking to your friends about the football game or whatever, you are not only cheating yourself the exhileration of playing as a team to win, but you also disadvantage the rest of your team who may be trying to work together. Plus, paying attention to another conversation takes you attention away from the game. Games can require precison, skill, and concentration, so by having a conversation, you are hindering your ability to concentrate on the game playing, to the disadvantage of your preformance.

Most people can probably talk about that stuff at other times, so why do it doing a game? It is nice to know though that some people enjoy ruining their game experience to talk about their school day with some friends. I think you need to be supervised by an adult when phone shopping. While the PlayStation 3's online service has made great leaps since launch, one key feature it's still missing is cross-game voice chat. In order to voice chat with other players, you have to be playing the same game; one person can't be playing Uncharted while another is playing Flower. We now know the reason for why that is and that it's unlikely to ever happen.

Meanwhile, thanks to the abundance of RAM included with Vita, Sony's new handheld does support this very feature.

This does make us wonder what else is being restricted on the PS3? You will not be getting cross-game voice chat when PS3 firmware 4. Even if a homebrew developer creates cross game chat, Sony is surly right about memory issues and then this app would run into problems.

If the memory problems is somehow fixed by a developer and a certain amount of memory reserved before entering a game, then that would really make Sony look like they did not care enough for this feature.
