I think the noise level is very acceptable. My only problem with all these units is the size for a "portable" air conditioner. I bought this one because its listed at 75lbs while most other units with this BTU rating are around lbs. In the modern age of small electronic devices, I'm surprised they haven't figured out how to make these smaller. I thought I'd be able to carry this thing up and down the stairs regularly to use on both floors at 75lbs and after lugging it around the living room I realize that's not gonna happen, and I have no problem carrying my lbs girlfriend up the stairs.
Go figure.
