This may or may not be part of the problem. If a USB device loses connection to the computer with PT open, even momentarily, you must quit and relaunch PT for it to be used again. Another thing to check is the Instrument Track settings.

I'm going to assume that you've created an Instrument track, and you're showing the Instruments View on your tracks. The box with the M in it should be gray, not orange. If all that is true, and the track is in record ready, you should see activity on the MIDI meter when you hit a key on the keyboard.

I'm on Mac and am not familiar with Midisport Since you are hearing the EZ drum sounds from triggering on the GUI then I would think it is not midi routing 1 are you getting signal into instrument to the track showing in the instrument track meters from your keyboard?

If so you might try either a different session or trashing you PT preferences. If you are not getting any signal into the track from your keyboard then it could be the Keyboard drivers maybe? EZ drummer do not necessarily map sounds to all keys, and if there is some sort of 'octave glitch' somewhere in you setup, your kestrokes may fall beside the keymap for EZdrummer. I'd try a piano or synth VI with fullblown key map. This is a long-shot but easy to try. Thread Tools.
